Violet Coated Vicryl 2 TP-1 4-27" Suture is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from glycolide and lactide. It is coated with polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate, providing enhanced handling and smooth tissue passage. The suture is violet in color for increased visibility during procedures and is presented with a TP-1 needle in lengths of 27 inches.

This suture is designed for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is indicated for procedures involving the reproductive tract, ophthalmic surgery, and general tissue repair. However, it is not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues due to specific performance limitations in those environments.

Violet Coated Vicryl maintains approximately 50% of its initial tensile strength at three weeks post-implantation. This strength retention period is suitable for tissues that heal quickly, ensuring adequate support during the initial wound healing phase. Its absorbable nature eliminates the need for suture removal, reducing patient follow-up requirements.
